Trigonometry only works on paper. For one, the relationship between Earth and another planet is relative because the distance is in hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth. Timing is theoretical too, for the position of the planet to move across space is relative. The base of an acute angle is not determined by the curvature of the Earth, it's longitudinal and latitudinal.
